The Greater Houston area is home to the largest concentration of petrochemical manufacturing in the world and headquarters for 23 Fortune 500 companies. Our robust economy presents many opportunities to work, live, and have fun. Our global reach also means we face a wide array of potential threats from severe weather and flooding to hazardous materials incidents and active shooter situations. Some of these situations occur with little or no notice.
Together let’s do our part to be informed and prepared for these challenges. Increased awareness and education have led to greater input from the community including increased Tier II reporting and shared emergency response plans. We plan to expand our programs by offering free chemical safety training and exercises for the community.
We have designed our website to promote a culture of preparedness with user-friendly access to information on preparedness for hazardous materials emergencies and all hazards. We connect you with free resources available within our community.
We are Houston strong! Being prepared for emergencies is a shared responsibility. Come back to our website frequently for updates and resources. Better yet, come join us at an upcoming meeting to learn more about the GHLEPC and our community. It’s free and lunch is on us!
